SUB: THE ELECT: GOD'S MASTERPIECE

Intro: 1) The grace of God marvelously revealed.

2) The elect are God's masterpieces of grace. We are reminded here of,

1. WHAT WE WERE Vss. 1-3

A. We were spiritually dead in trespasses and sins. vs 1.
1. A state of unawareness of sin and its repercussions.
2. A state of make-believe .

B. We walked in willful disobedience to the laws of God. vss 2,3.
1. The way of the world was the acceptable way to go.
2. We were unwitting tools of the devil.
3. We walked as many are presently walking.
4. We walked according to our nature. Psa 51:5.
5. A nature, but for the grace of God, will take us straight to Hell.

11. WHAT WE ARE Vss. 4-6

A. The mercy of God revealed to us. Gill says... Mercy is a perfection of the divine nature, and is essential to God;

D. Mercy revealed through His quickening power. vs 5.

E. Salvation by Grace!

F. A resurrection!  Which refers either to a spiritual resurrection, to a resurrection from a death in sin, to a spiritual life.

G. An accomplished act. " Christ is entered into heaven as the forerunner, to take possession of it for his people, in their name; and to prepare mansions of glory for them, and in these they sit; which imports honor, pleasure, rest from labor and weariness, and safety and security: and what adds to the happiness of this is, that it is together with all the saints, and with Christ himself; and in these they are made to sit already; which is so said, because of the certainty of it," Gill

111. WHAT WE WILL BE Vs. 7

A.  This is the end of God's permitting sin, in which men are morally dead;

B. Through Christ Jesus we will finally be in heaven.

1. By believing in His finished work on the cross.
2.He presently is at the right hand of the Father in heaven. Heb 8:1. 10: 12. 12:2. We will be too

Concl: God's marvelous Grace towards His Elect is revealed while as children of wrath, drawings us by His Holy Spirit and giving us a hope that passes into eternity.

App:  1. Have you been brought to the place where you recognize that you are a child nof wrath?

        2. Will you trust in Christ's finished work on the cross?

        3. If you have already done that, will you follow Him in Scriptural Baptism?
